Having spent my life living less than an hour from central London, I’m well placed to tell you just how expensive accommodation can be in the UK’s capital city. House sitting options are abundant in London; the THS app shows there are currently over 650 people looking for house sitters today!
This amazing sit I found in the London Borough of Putney is ideal for anyone wanting to explore the famous and iconic streets of London. With one easy-to-care-for cat that just needs feeding twice a day and a little daily fuss, you can spend your days carefree, enjoying everything the city has to offer.
You’ll stay in the guest room of this lovely two-bedroom home. It’s in immaculate condition, and the owner has had 6 previous sitters, all rating it 5/5 as a sitting experience. A 5-minute walk to the nearest tube station and with a bus stop right outside, you can be anywhere in London in minutes.
Bath – Culture Lovers’ Dream
We enjoyed a fantastic month house sitting in the idyllic city of Bath in 2024. Despite it being just a few hours from where we lived, neither of us had ever visited before. It’s a wonderful city, packed with cultural attractions like Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, and the Pulteney Bridge.
There are dozens of options in Bath at the moment on Trusted Housesitters, but my favorite is a three-storey Victorian townhouse walkable to the city center. Enjoy the company of 2 fantastic dogs, a Springer and a Lab, while exploring the historic and beautiful streets of Bath.
The dogs are well-trained and perfectly happy to accompany you on pub visits and to the attractions that are dog-friendly. They are also happy to be left to their own devices for up to 5 hours at a time – perfect timing for ticking off Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein and afternoon tea at Sally Lunn’s.
Liverpool – Music and Football Heaven
The northwest city of Liverpool is an awesome place to visit. Whether you are a big Beatles fanatic, a huge soccer fan, or just want to enjoy the endearing trappings of a big British city, head to Liverpool for a fantastic house sitting exchange.
Again, dozens of sits are currently looking for house sitters, but this incredible mansion in the high-end suburb the Wirral is ideal for living a bit of the high life, while being close enough to all of the city’s main attractions. This is one of the top UK house sits I’ve seen right now.
With just one dog to care for and lots of leafy walks available right from the front door, you’ll be close enough to the home of the current Premier League champions, Liverpool, to hear the crowd roar. A 5-minute ride through the Queensway Tunnel brings you right into the heart of the city center.
Cambridge – Easy Long Stay
Close to my own home, Cambridge is a great city famous for its universities and packed with culture, history, and a lively social scene. This next sit is actually just outside of Cambridge in the town of Godmanchester, but I’ve rated it one of my top UK sits right now for two very good reasons.
Aside from being an easy drive or bus into Cambridge, this house sit wants somebody to stay in a lovely home for 6 weeks! That’s not all, the best part is that the only pet to take care of is a loveable house rabbit, who just needs feeding twice a day. It is one of the easiest gigs going on THS right now!
The transport links are exceptional from Godmanchester, with nearby Huntingdon, Peterborough, and Cambridge all offering fast direct trains to central London and beyond. This long-stay house sit would be perfect for anyone wanting a straightforward long-term house sitting experience in the UK.
Taunton – Summer Farm Stay
If you thought I couldn’t do any better than a house rabbit think again. Chickens need caring for when their owners go on vacation and it’s very difficult to find a boarding kennel for them. I hit the poultry button on the THS search filters and found half a dozen easy sits around the UK.
My favorite is a small farmhouse in the glorious county of Somerset. The country town of Taunton is a wonderful place to visit, and this 3-week stay would be ideal for anyone seeking an idyllic summer break.
With just some feed to throw out every morning, and eggs to collect every day, this is the sit that keeps on giving. Trips to the coast are a daily possibility, while Taunton itself is full of cultural and fun things to do. If I wasn’t already booked on a sit I would be applying for this top house UK house sit right now!
