Our Story

10 years ago we had a crazy dream to travel full time. This blog is all about us and how we made that dream a reality.

Who We Are

Beaches All the Way Down is Rob and Hannah Bull, we’re a married couple of 13 years and two full-time digital nomads. We left our home, family, friends, a successful business, and a flourishing corporate career in the UK at the start of 2022 to travel the world and haven’t looked back.

It took a lot of planning, plenty of mistakes and was a huge learning curve, but we’ve picked up so much along the way and want to share it all.

Why Beaches All The Way Down?

In March 2024, as we sat in beautiful Phu Quoc, Vietnam, enjoying the fabulous beach and reviewing our onward travel plans which extended almost to the end of the year, I said to Hannah, “It’s beaches all the way down to Australia from here”. And the phrase was born.

We also like the song ‘Turtles All The Way Down’ by Sturgill Simpson which cemented the idea once it became a working blog title.

"I've just been going through our upcoming house sits and it's beaches all the way down to Australia from here"

In December 2023 we were picked from a large number of applicants to be featured in a Daily Mail article (a UK national newspaper) that focused on modern travel experiences. The journalist loved our story and we had a huge response from the article when it came out.

Our Experience and Expertise

Hannah has been working for one of the biggest travel websites in the industry for the last 12 months. Dariece and Nick the founders and creators of Goats on the Road were a huge influence on us and inspired us to follow our long term travel dreams. After Hannah reached out to them asking to write an article, they took her on as a permanent freelance travel writer.

It’s been an eye-opening experience working for such a big travel blog. It’s also lit a new fire in us to get our own blog up and running so we can pass the baton on to the next group of travelers dreaming of traveling full time.

Rob was a freelance journalist among many other things he did in the UK under the banner of running his own business. He has written about everything from fitness to rock and roll, but travel is just about his favorite thing to sit down and write about.

Making a Plan and Getting Started

Having stepped off the 9-5 treadmill ourselves we have tons of firsthand help and tips to get people started on the road to becoming full-time travelers.

We look back and see ourselves as absolute greenhorns when we left the UK in 2022. Our original plan and budget was to travel for maybe 3.5 years but we’ve learned so much along the way that it now means we have no end date in sight.

This advice, our experiences both good and bad, plus the hacks and tips we’ve picked up along the way will all be extremely useful, if not vital resources for anyone thinking of traveling long term.

Is it Just About Beaches?

No, our blog isn’t just about beaches, though they will certainly be cropping up from time to time.

Our expertise is in house sitting, pet sitting, volunteering in foreign countries, the digital nomad lifestyle, and making fulltime travel work. We provide useful and important information for budding travelers, remote workers, and digital nomads.

We have learnt so much since setting out on this adventure and now we hope to help others fulfil their own dreams of exploring the world.

How Many Countries Have You Visited?

Less than some but a lot more than others is usually our default answer to that question. Our style of travelling is not to see every corner of the earth in one quick stint, but rather to get to know places and live like a local once we are there.

To date, together we have visited 37 countries and Australia and New Zealand are coming up later in 2024.

We have spent extensive time in the USA, Costa Rica, Vietnam, and various European countries. We have a seemingly never-ending list of countries and places to visit or return to.

Where Has Been Your Favorite Place to Visit?

Rob

It’s a question we get asked a lot and it’s never easy to answer. I guess because different places bring different experiences that evoke different levels of enjoyment it’s maybe impossible to answer.

But I won’t shirk the question! I loved our time in Durham, North Carolina. We pet sat a lovely dog called Ladybug and two very chilled cats for 2.5 months. The house was in a leafy suburban area straight out of an American novel. It was our little slice of the American dream.

Hannah

I‘m going with Montenegro. It was a country we knew precious little about going in but instantly, on arrival, we knew the whole 3-months would be awesome. It has such natural beauty mixed in with some amazing cities and beaches, it was the perfect location.
